Portsmouth English Language School offers full and part-time courses.

We offer a wide range of courses to meet your needs, your budget and your availability. You will receive full support from every member of our team. At Portsmouth English Language School, you can choose to study English "à la carte", between 5 and 25 hours per week. All our courses are high-quality and are taught by dedicated and friendly teachers. 

Daytime General English Courses

General English covers all skills and is well balanced between speaking, reading, writing, listening, vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation.

Evening General English Courses

For people who do not have time during the day, maybe because of work or university commitments.

English Skills Classes

Focused on Functional and Situational English you would use in everyday situations.

Business English

The Business Skills courses are suitable for learners at different levels starting from B2, C1 and C2.

Academic Support Classes

For students who have already started their chosen university or college course and may be finding it difficult to follow their lectures or participate in group seminars, or may need to develop their academic skills to produce writing at university level or help to read longer, more complex texts.

One-to-one Private lessons

English language tuition is also available to individuals on a one to one basis, with just one student and one teacher. Students can choose which areas of English they would like to focus on and lessons are tailored to their specific needs and learning styles.

Ladies Only Classes

At Portsmouth English Language School, we offer classes just for women! We have also an on-site crèche where you can leave your children while you study.

Junior Learner Programme

Designed especially for young learners from the ages of 9 to 17.

Au Pair Programme

Designed to give you both educational and practical experience of living as part of a British family and improving your English.

Mini Stay Programme for groups

Groups of young learners and school groups, coming to England during term-time and who participate in a tailor-made programme of lessons and activities.

PON Programme for groups of Italian students

Groups of students from Italy that have personally organised the trip or those who have been granted funds to by PON sponsorship programme.
