Yulia Aleksikova - Director of Studies

portsmouth english language schoolYulia joined PELS in 2014 as a Director of Studies. She previously worked as a language teacher, IELTS and Cambridge tutor, academic manager and has done research in the sphere of language teaching, teaching materials and Applied Linguistics. She holds MA and PhD qualifications and ensures that the language courses here at PELS are developed and conducted at the highest level.

 Victoria Fortune - Assistant Director of Studies & EFL Teacher / IELTS Tutor

VictoriaFortuneVictoria Fortune, Assistant Director of Studies at PELS has been teaching English as a foreign language for five years and has experience at teaching all levels for general English, Anglia, Cambridge and IELTS examinations.

Victoria has a BA honours degree in English Language and Literature as well as a diploma in English Language Studies and her CELTA qualification, for which she achieved a grade B. 

She has worked at PELS since the beginning of 2009 and is an excellent all-round teacher of English.

In her free time she loves reading, cooking and going to the beach.

 

Elizabeta Bowman- EFL Teacher, Cambridge & IELTS Tutor

Elizabeta Bowman portsmouth english language schoolElizabeta Bowman has been teaching English since July 2013 and has experience in teaching General English, English skills, one to one and Anglia Exam, Cambridge & IELTS Preparation courses.

She gained her CELTA  Qualification in June 2013, and gained an impressive grade B, and has since worked at Portsmouth English Language College and PELS. She is planning to do her DELTA in the near future, and would like to teach business English.

Elizabeta is very passionate about foreign languages and speaks fluent English, Dutch, Macedonian and Serbian.

Claire White- EFL Teacher, Cambridge & IELTS Tutor

English Language SchoolClaire gained her CELTA qualification in June 2013 after attaining an English literature degree at Kent university. She has since worked in a children's summer camp preparing her students for the Trinity exam, and she started work at PELS in December 2013. Before and after university Claire spent extended periods of time working and studying in France, giving her new cultural experiences and an understanding of the difficulties of living in a foreign country whilst learning a new language.

Claire has since gained experience teaching General English to students up to proficiency level, as well as IELTS classes and English skills. In the future she hopes to teach abroad in places such as Vietnam and South America, the latter with the intention of learning Spanish.

Marc Thomas-EFL Teacher, Cambridge & IELTS Tutor

Marc Thomas gained his CELTA qualification in July 2014, and started working for PELS in September 2014. Prior to starting work at PELS Marc was working at South Downs College, where he worked with students who were resitting their English GCSEs and with adult students who wanted to improve their literacy skills.

After graduating from the University of the West of England with a degree in English Literature Marc taught English as a foreign language in China for two years, to adult students and young learners.

Marc has a keen interest in world cultures and religions and in the future Marc wants to teach abroad in Italy and the Middle East.

In his spare time Marc enjoys reading, playing the guitar and going to pub quizzes.
